Your guide to flawless skin

Taking good care of your skin does not make you any less of a man. In fact, with the right facial products and exercises you might be able to tone your jawline to chisel it into a more masculine structure. Using the right products does not merely include stealing your partner’s facials and peel creams! Depending on your skin, a routine could be as simple as moisturising once a day after a lukewarm shower. Here’s a basic guide on how to preserve your youthful look.

It’s never too late to ditch the soap

One simple method with immediate effects is to properly cleanse that facial skin! Men tend to generally have dirtier pores than women because they biologically have more powerful sweat glands, thus their pores are twice as greasy. A simple way to restore a fresh look is to wash your face with a gel based facial cleanser, instead of using bar soap, which not only dries your skin, but tends to cause your skin cells to deteriorate over time as well.

Never skip moisturising

We cannot stress enough on how important moisturising is after cleansing. Your skin should be damp before you apply your favourite product to seal in the moisture. Skipping this step will result in unwanted premature wrinkles and folds such as smile lines or crow’s feet. It’s also important to use a product that matches your skin type.

Moisture comes from within

It’s not all about locking in moisture from the outside. You need to make sure you’re drinking enough glasses of water per day depending on the weather and how much physical effort you exert. Eight glasses of water is ideal if you spend your time relaxing in room temperature. However, if the climate is warmer, or if you regularly exercise, you might want to consume double that amount.

Stay away from sugar

You might think because you go to the gym on a daily basis and burn plenty of calories, you can consume as much sugar as you feel like it, but it’s not about burning calories. Sugar is an irritant that can cause your skin to break out and to age much quicker than it naturally should. That doesn’t mean you need to completely cut it off, but drastically cutting down on your sugar intake will work to improve your overall health and skin condition.

Sunscreen is a must for everyone

It’s not girly to lather your skin in high SPF sunscreen before heading outside, it’s essential for everyone who goes out during the day. Not only can the UV rays cause unwanted discolouration and give you a bad farmer’s tan, but they’re the main reason why anyone ever ages. Sunscreen works to filter out harmful UV rays that can potentially cause tumours. Make sure you apply enough and to reapply every two hours.

Quit smoking

Smoking is not just a bad health habit, its effects also show externally in the long run…in fact, it might not even take that long for your teeth to darken and fall out; and your head to start balding. Regardless of potentially developing tumours in your lungs, smoking has been proven to make you look up to twice your age and make your skin more prone to breaking out.

Eat salad every day

Fruits and veggies can work miracles if consumed on a consistent basis. A mixture of lettuce, cucumbers, carrots, tomatoes, apples, and some bell peppers will be your health’s best friend that not only boosts your immunity and improves your bowel movements, but also give you that healthy glow all those expensive OTC products promise you –without the chemicals!
