What is next for Layal Abboud?
As you all know, I like to be unpredictable as always and surprise my fans. More to come for sure, such as a new khaliji song, Helm Wala Haqiqa (Dream or Reality) — lyrics by Abir Ahwaje, melodies by Joseph Jeha, distribution by Bassem Rezek, mix & mastering by Elie Barbar, and clip directed by Rindala Kodeh. It will be available soon on all TV channels and my YouTube channel.
What made you decide to become a business woman beside singing?
I am always aiming high in life, and I love to challenge myself, evolve, and keep myself busy.
Who or what have been the most important influences on your musical life and career?
Our wonderful diva, Sabah.
What has been the best performance of your career so far?
I cannot decide; I believe all my performances during my long career are successful.
What have been the greatest challenges of your career so far?
Engraving my name among Arab hit singers.
What do you do off stage that provides inspiration on stage?
I love to cook, have big family gatherings, and write poetry.
What is your most memorable concert experience?
Each concert is a special vibe of its own.
Who is your favourite singer at the moment? Who are you listening to a lot of?
Pop Smoke for now, but of course, I am still a big fan of the oldies like Biggie Small & Little Kim.
Do you think working in such a competitive industry means you have had to make a lot of personal sacrifices?
If I say no, I would be fooling myself. There is always a sacrifice to make when you endeavour to be better and refine your best self. This is emotionally stressful, and as you know, I’m very close to my family and this constant work pushes me away from them.
How do you cope with being away from home for long periods?
I can’t stay away from home because it makes me feel like a lost kid, which is why I feel thankful for the video-calling invention.
How do you face the problems that come your way (personal or at work)?
We all go trough daily problems. However, I always think that you have to stay positive and optimistic because tomorrow, surely, is another beautiful day.
Does being a mother ever affect your work, positively or negatively?
Not at all. I always draw inspiration from my son, Jad.
How do you stay fit?
Healthy eating and lots of exercises.
What makes you angry?
Unprofessionalism and lying.
