Frida Kahlo is one of Mexico’s most iconic artists. Despite of her sufferings and struggles, she managed to create fabulous art works that are renowned and highly appreciated till the present time.<\/em><\/p>\n

Who is Frida Kahlo?<\/strong>
\nFrida Kahlo was a Mexican painter born on the 6th of July 1907 and passed away on the 13th of July 1954. At the age of 18, she suffered a traffic accident, as a result, she experienced a lifelong pain; however, she resorted to art and became one of the most prestigious artists across the world. Her sufferings as well as Mexico\u2019s beauty inspired her to create eye-catching paintings and significant portraits which are still renowned till now. Located in the Mexican town of Coyoac\u00e1n, her family home turned to a museum and it is known as the Frida Kahlo Museum.<\/p>\n

Frida\u2019s Style and Technique<\/strong>
\nShe followed a na\u00efve folk art style, mixing realism with fantasy. The artist belonged to the post-revolutionary Mexicayotl movement which saw the light in 1950 and aimed to revive Mexico\u2019s ancient traditions and the Azteca\u2019s philosophy amongst the Mexicans. Frida was described as surrealist (magical realist) and her art depicted significant themes such as gender equality.<\/p>\n

Frida\u2019s Movie <\/strong>
\nDirected by Julie Taymor, in 2002 the drama film titled \u201cFrida\u201d was released depicting the artist\u2019s life and the Mexican-American famous star Salma Hayek played the role of the artist. The film was adapted from a book titled \u201cFrida: A Biography of Frida Kahlo\u201d and written by Hayden Herrera. No wonder, the movie received several remarkable awards, including: Oscar, Golden Globe, BAFTA, Screen Actors Guild, AFI, American Society of Cinematographers, Golden Camera, Imagen Foundation, Venice Film Festival, and Yoga.<\/p>\n

Her Life in a Photography Exposition <\/strong>
\nRecently, the Mexican Embassy in Egypt celebrated a photography exposition under the title of \u201cFrida Kahlo & Diego Rivera: A Smile Halfway\u201d. The photos depicted different stages of Frida\u2019s life with her husband Diego Rivera who was also an artist. The event took place in the Spanish Cultural Centre \u201cCervantes\u201d and photos were taken by Guillermo Zamora, Agust\u00edn V\u00edctor Casasola, Juan Guzm\u00e1n, Bernard G.
