Egypt’s Nouran Gohar Lift’s the Carol Weymuller Squash Open’s Title - Her fellow citizen Nour El Tayeb finished second.

Menna Hamed, Zeina Mickawy, Menna Nasser, Yathreb Adel, Mariam Metwally, Farida Mohamed, Nouran Gohar, Salma Hany, and Nour El Tayeb were the Egyptian squash players who competed at the Carol Weymuller Open 2020.

Gohar (world no.3) and El Tayeb (world no.4) were the champions who made it to the final that lasted for 27 minutes and ended 3-0 (11-9/11-5/11-2) in Gohar’s favor.

Expressing her happiness, Gohar commented: “I’m extremely happy. I can’t describe it, I’m over the moon right now. I was just taking it match by match and didn’t quite imagine having this trophy in my hands at the end of this week! The mental part is really important. I like playing on this court.”

Previous matches between Nouran & Nour:

It is worth noting that Gohar and El Tayeb also faced each other in the 2019 FS Investments U.S. Open. El Tayeb won the opening two games 3-11 and 8-11, respectively. However, Gohar did not surrender and took the last three games 14-12, 11-8, and 11-7, respectively.

Both also met in the J.P. Morgan China Open’s semifinal. This time El Tayeb was the winner after she defeated her compatriot 3-0 (11-6/11-5/11-8). On her way to the Allam British Open 2019’s title, Gohar beat El Tayeb in the semifinal 3-1 (11-9/11-2/6-11/11-9).
