After making the giant leap from runway model to 'Miss Lebanon', Lamitta Frangieh's ambitions were not still fulfilled. The stunning glamour-girl, who caught the eye of the Arab world, is now aiming her sights on international stardom. Lamitta tells Insight her story on how she broke new ground for nationalities in the pursuit of her dreams.

How did you get started in acting? How much do you want to pursue this field?

Ever since I was a child, I have always loved to watch American and Indian movies. I did not plan to act in the Middle East region because the material I am seeking is very rare here. But in order to chase your passion, you must endure a lot of rough starts - you must start from the bottom because opportunities don't just come on a silver plate. So I first appeared in Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt and finally I am now shooting an English movie. Now, I am feeling comfortable in my innermost being because I am moving towards a worthwhile goal.

What do you like most about your profession?

I love almost everything about acting; the variety of roles and the opportunity to be creative. For me, acting is fun and not a chore. I find it interesting to meet global and international celebrities and media people, building new friendships and getting invited to their new shows, stores or special events. Above all, I am fond of travelling to foreign countries, shooting next to breathtaking sights, and getting familiar with their different cultures.

What's the side of you that the public never sees?

Let's be realistic, the public sees no more than 10 % of my character and personality. They merely watch me performing different roles in many movies, but they know nothing about my real self. Moreover, I keep minimum exposure on media like television, because I like to keep my life private as much as I can. So I think the public does not see many sides of me. It's perception versus reality I think.

You seem to exude real 'body' confidence. What's the secret?

If you have a strong personality, you will also have a confident attitude about your body and shape. Of course, I always try to avoid things that speed the aging process like smoking, makeup and alcohol. I exercise regularly, nourish my skin and eat healthy.

Some people think Lamitta has it all. What don't you have?

Well, if I constantly focus on what I don't have, I will never fully appreciate what I do have. I focus on what I can control and what brings me joy, and ignore anything that doesn't mean much to me, or else I will be wasting my energy on the wrong parts of life.

Tell us about your daily routine?

Apart from my work, I start my day with some workouts in the gym, then spend the day with my family. I sometimes go out with friend to watch a movie or hang out in new places, or attend events. I travel with my family or brother every now and then to see new countries and different cultures.

In your opinion, what should a woman do to have a curvy yet fit and healthy body?

It is mostly due to genetics, but there are many ways to slim your body without losing its curves. Any woman can do that by maintaining a healthy balanced diet full of fruits and vegetables, as well as exercising to stay toned, firmed and in shape. Surgery is only an option when you want to fix stretch marks, otherwise avoid surgeries, because they can make you turn worse than before.

What are the essential items in every woman's handbag?

A woman should always have credit card, perfume, mobile phone, paper, pen and a camera or phone camera to take few snap shots whenever she meets a beloved acquaintance. A woman should also carry lip balm or Vaseline to always have a radiant skin and healthy lips. As for makeup, I don't really recommend women overuse make-up. After all, a woman's beauty comes from so many places than just her outer appearance. Focus on letting your inner-soul shine instead.

Describe the man of your dreams?

The ideal man for me must know how to enjoy life even during sorrows, and find meaning to life in suffering. He should have a sense of humour to be prone to spontaneous laughter and joy. He must also have sense of charm and knows how to treat a lady. Above all, there must be chemistry between us.

What are the things a man should never do to his woman?

A man should never disrespect his partner, because disrespect is the pitfall to any relationship. Demeaning a partner can be quite abusive and emotionally violent, and it is mainly caused by a misunderstanding and insensitivity on the part of the husband. And if she accepts these insults, the same problems will reappear more often.

In your opinion, what should a woman do to always look sexy in her partner's eyes?

Well, I believe that a woman should always be smiling, caring and loving to her partner. But she can also choose feminine fabrics that match with her style and the recent hottest trends. In other words, she should wear what works for her. That doesn't mean you have to carry out something tacky like displaying cleavage. At the end of the day, a woman is not the way she looks, or how big her boobs are, it's her personality that defines her, not her body parts.

What are you most proud of?

The fact that I got to where I am today without anybody's help. I did it all on my own. I didn't ask my parents to help me start a business or lend me money to cover my personal expenses. I did it all myself, which makes me proud. I'm a self-made woman.

What's your favourite quote?

''There's more to life than just having everything''

What does success mean to you?

Success gave me freedom and more options in my life. It created new goals for me, bigger goals. So success just allowed me to continue the journey of progress and self-advancement. But I always make sure to learn from the entire journey, including the failing points because they can always teach me a lesson.
